Scotland tighthead prop Zander Fagerson has been handed a four-week ban after his red card against Wales in Round 2 of the Guinness Six Nations.

Fagerson was sent off in the second half of the 25-24 loss at BT Murrayfield for a dangerous clearout on Wyn Jones.

An independent disciplinary committee met on Tuesday to review his case and Fagerson was handed a four-week ban which will keep him out of the remainder of the Guinness Six Nations.

The disciplinary committee deemed the foul play warranted a mid-range entry point – a six-week suspension – but reduced that by two weeks to account for mitigating factors, including his admission of foul play and a good disciplinary record.

Scotland’s campaign continues in Round 3 with a trip to Paris to take on Championship leaders France.
