Adam Hastings is among seven players who have been added to Scotland’s squad by Gregor Townsend for their Guinness Six Nations Round 3 clash against France.

The fly-half, who has trained with the national team since the end of January, takes his place in the squad after recovering from a shoulder injury which has kept him out of action since November – coming through more than an hour of Glasgow Warriors’ game against Ulster on Friday night unscathed.

Hastings is also joined in the squad by uncapped back-row Josh Bayliss as Townsend looks to bolster his options ahead of his side’s trip to face Les Bleus in Paris.

23-year-old Bayliss, who qualifies for Scotland through his Aberdeen-born grandmother, has impressed while featuring for Bath Rugby in every game of the 2020/21 season so far.

Glasgow Warriors scrum-half Jamie Dobie has also been called up by Townsend for the first time as a full squad member, having been previously invited to train at the start of the campaign.

Also returning to the Scotland squad are Jamie Bhatti, currently with Bath Rugby, Worcester Warrior Cornell du Preez and Glasgow Warriors’ duo Rob Harley and Sam Johnson.

Speaking about his new squad additions, Townsend said: “We welcome Josh [Bayliss] into our squad as we look to build on our opening two games of the Championship.

“We have been following his performances with Bath and a combination of his form and a couple of injuries in our squad, have given us the opportunity to involve him for the first time.

“We are also delighted to add Jamie Dobie to our group following his impressive outing for Glasgow on Friday night and the quality he showed while training with us prior to our game against England.”

Centre Cameron Redpath and back-row pair Gary Graham and Blade Thomson have all returned to their clubs as they continue to recover from their respective injuries.

Prop Zander Fagerson has not been included in the latest squad update but Scottish Rugby have confirmed they will appeal his disciplinary hearing ban of four matches, issued last week.
