England flanker Ewan Richards’ first try against Ireland has been named Six Nations Under-20s Try of Round 3 after winning a public vote.

Up against impressive scores from Italian duo Flavio Vaccari and Lorenzo Pani, as well as Thibault Debaes’ try for France, Richards got the nod from the public with 51% of votes cast.

Vaccari’s length-of-the-field score came in second on 26% with Pani accruing 12% and Debaes notching 11%

Richards actually grabbed a double as England outmuscled Ireland 24-15 to leapfrog their opponents at the top of the table and keep the hopes of a Grand Slam alive.

It was his first effort that won Try of the Round and was teed up beautifully by Worcester Warriors No.10 Fin Smith.

Smith sprayed a lovely pass off the left hand to Arthur Relton, who sent it on via fellow winger Tom Litchfield to Richards, who used to power to crash over in the corner as England capitalised on an overlap.

With his Try of the Round gong secured, the back-rower will now focus on remaining matches against Wales and Italy, as England look to achieve a Grand Slam.
