England’s Bryony Cleall signs for Wasps after leaving Saracens

England international Bryony Cleall has left Saracens Women to join Wasps ahead of the new Premier 15s season.

The Red Roses prop, 29, won the 2021 Women’s Six Nations alongside her twin sister and No.8 Poppy, who scored the only try of the game in the 10-6 win over France in the final.

But the twins will be separated at club level after Bryony, who has won five England caps, decided to seek a new challenge at Twyford Avenue after five seasons at Saracens.

The new Premier 15s campaign gets underway on September 4 with Bryony immediately facing her old club and sister as Wasps host Saracens on the opening day of the season.

“Buzzing for a new challenge, bring on the first game of the season,” said Bryony, after her move was announced.

It had previously been revealed she would be leaving Saracens ahead of the new season.

Bryony said: “Time for a change. After joining Saracens in the 2016/17 Season – I’d have never imagined I’d be a two-time Premiership winner, capped Red Rose, have signed a pro contract and play tighthead prop!

“However, it’s time for a new challenge. Time to push myself and develop as a player and person!”

Bryony was awarded a professional contract for 2019/20 and made her England debut against Ireland in the 2019 Women’s Six Nations, scoring a try after coming onto the field as a replacement.
