Fans will return to watch Scotland for the first time in two years when they host Japan at Edinburgh’s new DAM Health Stadium in November.
The clash on November 14 will be the first meeting between the sides since 2019, which was coincidentally the last time home fans watched Bryan Easson’s team play.
Storm Ciara and Covid-19 forced a change of plans from February 2020 onward after that match against Japan finished in a 24-20 defeat following two late tries.
Scotland have arrived back from Italy after their noteworthy performance at the Rugby World Cup 2021 Europe Qualifiers, where they bounced back from defeat against the hosts to beat Spain and Ireland and finish second.
That result qualified them for the repechage, where they join Samoa and Colombia in a bid to qualify for next year’s tournament in New Zealand.
They have also climbed to a record high of ninth in the Women’s World Rugby rankings.

Head coach Easson said: “The squad is in a good place right now following our win on Saturday in Italy, so we have an exciting few months ahead with the final qualifying tournament for the 2022 Rugby World Cup in January.
“I am delighted that we will be playing Japan in front of a home crowd because the support that we have had from our supporters over the last 18 months has been fantastic, and the whole squad can’t wait to run out in front of a home crowd in November.
“Japan gave us a great match in 2019, and I am sure that both teams will demonstrate some fantastic rugby for the supporters and that this match will give the squad some valuable experience ahead of the 2022 Rugby World Cup Qualifying Repechage.”
