Wales will begin the defence of their Guinness Six Nations crown this weekend as Rugby’s Greatest Championship returns – and supporters can watch Wayne Pivac’s men in action live from the comfort of their own home.

As ever, viewers in Wales and the rest of the UK are well catered for throughout the Championship, with every match from all five rounds screened live in high definition.

The action begins on Saturday with Wales’ trip to Dublin to face Ireland, unbeaten in eight Test matches, after Pivac’s side won the reverse fixture in Round 1 last year in Cardiff.

ITV 1 HD has the match for fans in Wales and will be on air from 1.30pm, with kick-off following at 2.15pm. For Welsh language viewers, S4C will also broadcast the game from 1.45pm.

Mark Pougatch will be fronting ITV’s coverage of Wales’ trip to Ireland, with Brian O’Driscoll, Rory Best and Gareth Thomas on pundit duty and commentary provided by Miles Harrison, Shane Williams and Gordon D’Arcy.

For S4C’s coverage, Sarra Elgan will be presenting. The punditry team is set to include Wales and Lions hooker Ken Owens, top referee Nigel Owens and current Wales women’s captain Siwan Lillicrap.

Another tasty treat follows at 4.45pm, as Scotland and England renew their rivalry at BT Murrayfield as Gregor Townsend’s men attempt to retain the Calcutta Cup.

Biggar aiming to make late mother proud

Scotland stunned England a year ago by winning at Twickenham for the first time in 38 years and will hope to secure bragging rights once more.

BBC One HD is the place to watch in the UK, with the team on air from 4pm.

Then on Sunday, France and Italy meet for the Giuseppe Garibaldi Trophy at the Stade de France to round out the weekend. ITV 1 HD is again the channel to find in the UK – with the coverage beginning from 2.30pm ahead of a 3pm kick-off.

As per previous years, every match of the 2022 Guinness Six Nations will be broadcast live in the UK on BBC Radio 5 Live or 5 Live Sports Extra, with all commentaries also available on BBC Sounds and across BBC radio.
