Italy full-back Ange Capuozzo has won the 2022 Guinness Six Nations Player of Round 5 for his incredible performance in Italy’s historic 22-21 win over Wales in Cardiff.

Capuozzo sent Italian supporters into dreamland with his sublime break late in the second half, which set up winger Edoardo Padovani to score a truly breathtaking try at Principality Stadium.

But he was not just involved in that one try alone, he was a constant threat from full-back, making 129 yards from 12 carries as he set Cardiff alight as part of an attacking back three.

Defensively he was also on point, making five tackles from a possible five as Italy’s resolute defence impressed late on to prevent a Wales score and allow his moment of magic to matter.

In the eyes of the public, Capuozzo stole the show this week, winning 58% of the votes.

France captain Antoine Dupont finished second with 22% of the votes after his try-scoring performance against England to seal the Grand Slam.

Ireland hooker Dan Sheehan finished third with 15% of the vote, ahead of fourth placed Gaël Fickou, who finished fourth after he himself crossed the whitewash as France beat England with 5% of the votes.
