England stormed into their first World Cup final in 12 years with this memorable victory over the tournament favourites.
Jones’ gameplan was carried out to perfection against the three-time champions New Zealand, Manu Tuilagi crossing for England’s sole try with George Ford slotting four penalties to seal the deal.
England may have gone on to lose the final against South Africa but this game stands out as one of England’s best performances of recent times and arguably the highlight of Jones’ tenure.
2021 Autumn Nations Series – England 27-26 South Africa
A tale of revenge, Marcus Smith’s last-gasp penalty against South Africa saw England’s 2021 campaign end on a high.
Jones’ team outfoxed their 2019 World Cup final conquerors at Twickenham in dramatic fashion, having initially let a 17-6 half-time lead slip as the Springboks rallied after the break.
But Smith held his nerve from the tee with 15 seconds left on the clock to send the home faithful into raptures and secure a notable triumph.
