CJ Stander returns to make a rare start at blindside flanker as Ireland coach Andy Farrell has made four changes to his side to face England on Saturday.
Ireland made a commanding start to their Autumn Nations Cup campaign with a 32-9 victory over Wales but injuries continue to hamper the side and Farrell has shuffled his deck once more.
In the absence of the injured Johnny Sexton, Ross Byrne comes in to start at fly-half in a game where James Ryan will become the 107th player to captain Ireland when he leads the side out at Twickenham.
Stander has been recalled to the back row in place of Josh van der Flier with Peter O’Mahony switching to openside and Caelan Doris remaining at No.8.
Connacht’s Bundee Aki is recalled in midfield to replace the injured Robbie Henshaw and partners Munster’s Chris Farrell.
Meanwhile, Munster’s Keith Earls starts on the right wing in place of Andrew Conway, with James Lowe set to make his second start on the opposite flank.
Leinster’s Hugo Keenan continues at full-back with Jacob Stockdale and Iain Henderson, late withdrawals from the game against Wales, only fit enough to make the bench.
Jamison Gibson-Park is preferred once again to Conor Murray at scrum-half while captain Ryan is again partnered in the second row by Quinn Roux.
The all-Leinster front row of Cian Healy, Ronan Kelleher and Andrew Porter remains unchanged.
Stockdale replaces Earls on the bench while Rob Herring takes over from Dave Heffernan as reserve hooker in the only other change among the replacements.
