Manu Tuilagi and Sam Simmonds have been re-called to Eddie Jones’ England squad for a three-day training camp ahead of the 2022 Autumn Nations Series.

Tuilagi last featured for England in the 2021 Autumn Nations Series, suffering an injury in the process of scoring his side’s first try in their 27-26 victory over world champions South Africa at Twickenham.

Exeter Chiefs star Simmonds was involved throughout last year’s Autumn Nations Series and the 2022 Guinness Six Nations but missed England’s successful summer tour to Australia with injury.

But with the pair now back playing for their respective Premiership Rugby sides, Jones has called them back into the fold in his 36-man squad.

There are also first call-ups for Northampton Saints’ Alex Coles and Saracens’ new signing Hugh Tizard with the second-row duo both starring for England U20 previously.

Ben Youngs, Alex Mitchell, Tom Pearson and David Ribbans are also recalled to the squad, with the latter pair hoping to earn their first caps this November.

The squad will meet in Richmond on Sunday and train at Twickenham as part of a three-day training camp ahead of a packed Autumn Nations Series.

The Red Rose host Argentina, Japan, New Zealand and South Africa in what will be the last time the best of the southern hemisphere clash with the best of the northern hemisphere until the 2023 Rugby World Cup.

Jones said: “With a year to go to the Rugby World Cup, this is a big opportunity for players to come in and impress.

“We want them to show real energy and enthusiasm and that they want to be a part of this massive year.“It doesn’t mean that those who have been left out won’t be considered for the Autumn Nations Series matches.

“We’ll be looking at club games, form and fitness and the door is left open for those players.

“We finished the Australia tour well.  It was a fantastic experience, particularly for the younger players.

“We now have to start again, but we’ll build on what we’ve done there and continue that momentum.” England squad for Pre-Autumn Nations Series Camp
