France have received a major boost on the eve of the Guinness Six Nations, with Gregory Alldritt deemed fit enough to be named in their final 31-man squad.

No.8 Alldritt – who was on the six-man shortlist for Player of the Championship in 2020 – was left out of the initial squad two weeks ago and revealed he was undergoing an examination on an injured knee.

But head coach Fabien Galthié named the La Rochelle forward in his squad that will prepare to face Italy ahead of the Championship’s opening game on Saturday.

Galthie was hit by a late blow with hooker Camille Chat ruled out with an injury, joining the likes of Thomas Ramos, Romain Ntamack and Virimi Vakatawa on the sidelines.

Lyon lock Killian Geraci and scrum-half Baptiste Couilloud join the squad, while the likes of Selevasio Tolofua, Hassane Kolingar, Donovan Taofifenua, Vincent Rattez and Julien Delbouis miss out.

After facing Italy in Rome, France head to Dublin to face Ireland in Round 2.
