Wales’ most capped player of all time Alun Wyn Jones will return to the Wales squad ahead of next week’s fixture against Italy.
The 149-cap forward has been recovering from shoulder surgery and was expected to miss the entirety of the 2022 Guinness Six Nations but could now make his 150th appearance in the final round of fixtures.
Speaking after his side’s 13-9 defeat to France, Wales head coach Wayne Pivac confirmed that Jones would be returning.
He said: “He’ll be officially added to the squad this weekend.
“He’s worked very, very hard as Alun Wyn does. He’s been training with the team, helping prepare the team for this week’s game. He’ll be available for selection.
“He’s worked very, very hard.”
Pivac’s side were narrowly defeated at Principality Stadium, an Anthony Jelonch try the difference between the sides as France kept their Grand Slam hopes alive under the lights in Cardiff.
Wales head into the final round of fixtures having won just one of their four games so far in the Championship but will be looking to finish their 2022 Guinness Six Nations campaign off with a win against currently winless Italy.
