Alivereti Raka once again underlined his potential with a two-try performance as Clermont Auvergne eased past Harlequins in the Champions Cup.

The France wing, who scored two tries at the World Cup and boasts three from four international appearances overall, was almost impossible to stop at Stade Marcel Michelin as the Top 14 side made a perfect start to their European bid with a 53-21 win.

The 24-year-old pounced on a loose ball for his first try before accelerating clear for his second following a neat passing move.

He finished with 113 metres made, three clean breaks and six defenders beaten but was far from the only star of the show – with fly-half Camille Lopez particularly influential.

Flanker Peceli Yato also crossed for two tries, while Isaia Toeava, George Moala and Mike Tadjer went in for one each.

Elsewhere, Munster showed off their title credentials with a bonus-point 32-13 win away at fellow Guinness PRO14 side Ospreys.

In a tight first half, Jeremy Loughman’s try and a pair of Tyler Bleyendaal penalties put the away side ahead before Ireland internationals Keith Earls and Andrew Conway crossed for tries in the second half.

Ospreys’ Aled Davies crossed for their first try two minutes from time before James Cronin confirmed the bonus point for Munster in the 84th minute.
