Rory Best signed off his career in Belfast with a win as Ulster booked their place in the Guinness PRO14 semi-finals.

The Ireland captain will call time on his career after the World Cup, and was playing at the Kingspan Stadium for the final time.

And Best, who led Ireland to third place in the 2019 Guinness Six Nations, played an important role in the 21-13 victory over Connacht.

Nick Timoney and Marcell Coetzee scored a try in each half for Ulster, with John Cooney chipping with nine points from the kicking tee.

However Connacht stayed in the game throughout, with Ireland centre Bundee Aki continuing his fine scoring run against Ulster with a second-half score.

It was not enough though, with Ulster securing a semi-final place away to Glasgow Warriors in the semi-final.

In the other game of the day, CJ Stander won a late penalty as Munster snatched victory from Benetton at the death.

The Italian side were playing in the knockout stages for the first time in the competition, and led by Tommaso Allan, defended brilliantly in the first half.

Ratuva Tavuyara’s try on the stroke of half-time gave them a 10-3 lead, Allan converting from the touchline, and they then had the better of much of the second half.

Munster kept in it thanks to boot of JJ Hanrahan, and the fly-half slotted the winning penalty from halfway with five minutes to go to get his side home.

Munster will now travel to Dublin to take on Leinster in the semi-finals in a repeat of last year’s last-four clash.
