Scarlets are now just one win away from back-to-back Guinness PRO14 titles and Rob Evans admits he and his teammates are desperate to make amends in Dublin next weekend.

Evans was one of three first-half try scorers for the Scarlets in a scintillating first-half display on Friday night against Glasgow Warriors.

Evans’ Wales teammates from the 2018 NatWest 6 Nations Gareth Davies and Rhys Patchell also went over as they blew the home side away.

Ken Owens went over in the second half for the Welsh region before Jonny Gray and Nick Grigg pulled back late consolations for the home side.

Evans will return to the Aviva Stadium next weekend looking for revenge in the Guinness PRO14 final against the winners of Leinster and Munster’s Saturday semi-final.

And after losing with Wales there to Ireland in the 2018 Championship and to Leinster in their European semi-final, will it be third time lucky for the champions?

Evans said: “We spoke all week about coming up here, we won away from home last year in the semi-final and we wanted to do it again and we’re chuffed to get a result.

“It was a devastating blow for us (losing in Europe), we wanted to put it right, to wipe the slate clean. We came back into training and thankfully we were still alive in this competition.

“We’re looking forward to next week.”

Skipper Owens added: “We’re very happy, we knew how tough it was going to be against a good Glasgow side, we managed to beat them five weeks ago so we knew they’d come out firing on all cylinders.

“They did that and the game got a bit loose at times, I think defensively we can tidy it up a little bit but we scored four tries and we’re really happy with the performance.

“We got the job done, we did what we needed to do and we’re into another final. We know it will be tough next week and we’ll need to go up another level but we’ve worked hard this season.”

Meanwhile Glasgow skipper and Scotland back row Ryan Wilson could not hide his disappointment.

“It’s a bitter pill to swallow, we wanted to send the boys finishing careers and moving on on a better note and the 10,000 fans that turned up,” he said.

“We feel like we should have done more but it’s if-onlys.

“You saw in the second half we played some good rugby but it took us a whole half to realise we needed to look after the ball and throw it about and you can do good things.

“We’ll take our medicine and hopefully come back next year and hopefully do better.

“They were the better team tonight, they did well in the first half and got themselves in a position where they could sit off and just defend in the second half.”
