Prop Zander Fagerson admits Scotland’s upcoming meeting with Italy in the Guinness Six Nations is a “must-win”.
Scotland opened their Championship campaign with a narrow defeat to Ireland in Dublin.
Gregor Townsend’s men were then edged out by England at BT Murrayfield in a hard-fought Calcutta Cup clash.
But Fagerson insists he saw ‘plenty of positives’ in their close losses in the opening two rounds.
And now the Glasgow Warriors man wants Scotland to turn their fortunes around, starting in Rome on Saturday, February 22 (2.15pm).
“It’s a must-win game for us,” Fagerson said.
“It’s just crucial, clinical last little bits that have been missing. We’ve had chances to win both games – that’s the exciting part, but it’s gutting because we know how close we came.”
Fifth-placed Scotland face bottom side Italy with both sides hunting for their first win of this year’s Championship.
