Scotland star Blair Kinghorn has been voted as the Guinness Six Nations Player of Round One.
The Edinburgh speedster is a deserved winner after his hat-trick heroics for his side in their opening bonus-point win over Italy.
Kinghorn has beaten out his teammate Finn Russell, Welshman George North and England trio Mako Vunipola, Owen Farrell and Jonny May in a public vote to claim the inaugural award.
The 22-year-old crossed twice in the first 40 minutes against the Azzurri as the Scots opened up a healthy half-time lead.
And in second half he completed his treble with the best finish of the bunch, cutting in off his left wing to dive over and become the first Scot to score a hat-trick in the Guinness Six Nations-era.
Kinghorn has been one of the key cogs for his club side this year as they have made the quarter-finals in Europe for the first time since 2012.
Normally at full-back for his club side, and an occasional performer at fly-half, Kinghorn has however switched to the wing for Scotland where his finishing record speaks for itself.
He now has six tries in seven international starts, including his maiden score at the Aviva Stadium last year against Grand Slam champions Ireland.
But last weekend saw him break new ground with his treble as Scotland moved top of the Guinness Six Nations table after Round 1.
Kinghorn’s three tries in Saturday’s win over the Azzurri were the first hat-trick to be scored by a Scotsman in the Guinness Six Nations since winger Iwan Tukalo’s treble against Ireland in the old Five Nations in 1989.
