Maro Itoje struck late as England ended France’s Guinness Six Nations Grand Slam hopes with a 23-20 victory at Twickenham.
Itoje ploughed over for his third England score in the 76th minute, denying France a first away win at Twickenham since 2005 and the prospect of a showdown with fellow Grand Slam-chasers Wales on Super Saturday.
Antoine Dupont gave France the perfect start with his second-minute try, while Damian Penaud’s Try of the Championship contender gave the visitors a 17-13 half-time lead.
Anthony Watson scored on his 50th cap as England kept in touch in the first half, while Owen Farrell’s three penalties ensured Itoje’s rare try was a match-winning score.
