One of Italy’s breakout stars of the 2018 NatWest 6 Nations, Seb Negri’s year keeps getting better after inking new terms with Benetton Rugby.
The 23-year-old started all five games for the Azzurri in this year’s Championship and produced some fine showings – particularly in a narrow defeat to France in Marseille in round three.
Meanwhile his club side have gone from strength to strength in this year’s Guinness PRO14, Benetton have won 11 games already to sit fifth in Conference B.
And after signing up until 2020 – the Hartpury College educated forward – who can play in the second row or at blindside flanker – is excited for what the future holds.
“I’m very happy to prolong my adventure with Benetton Rugby. It’s been a great first season for me and I’m grateful to the club for the opportunity they have given me,” he said.
“I firmly believe in the project of the board and the direction that is being taken by the team. This is just the start and I can’t wait to make more progress with coach (Kieran) Crowley and his staff moving forward over the next two years.”
Benetton sporting director Antonio Pavanello added: “We are happy to extend Sebastian’s contract until 2020. He’s a young athlete with huge potential, and his season in green and white and his performance in the Six Nations with Italy are proof of that.
“We are sure that in the coming seasons he will continue to make a huge contribution both on, and particularly off the pitch.”
