Wales lock Cory Hill will miss the rest of the 2019 Guinness Six Nations after suffering an injury in his side’s historic victory over England in Cardiff on Saturday.
The second-rower was one of the hosts’ star performers at the Principality Stadium as they overcame Eddie Jones’ Red Rose side to seal a record-breaking 12th consecutive win.
England had led 10-3 at the interval thanks to Tom Curry’s try but Wales fought from behind and took the lead with 13 minutes to go following Hill’s brilliantly-worked score.
But Warren Gatland’s men will have to make do without Hill for their last two games of the Championship after the 27-year-old injured his ankle in their famous Round Three triumph.
“He’s certainly going to be a loss but any loss is someone else’s opportunity,” said Wales skill coach Neil Jenkins.
“Cory was outstanding on Saturday, obviously with his try as well, and he’s a fantastic player for us.
“He’s a good person around the squad as well [but] we’ve got some fantastic players in that position, so it will be quite interesting to see who plays in the last few games.”
With Hill unavailable to pack down alongside skipper Alun Wyn Jones for the rest of the Championship, Adam Beard and Jake Ball will both be in the mix to face Scotland.
Beard and Ball started Wales’ victory in Round Two against Italy in Rome, after Jones was picked alongside Beard in the opening match against France in Paris.
There is better injury news for Wales in the backline, though, with full-back Leigh Halfpenny back in contention after three months out following concussion.
Halfpenny played a full game for Scarlets at the weekend in the Guinness PRO14, while fly-half Rhys Patchell and scrum-half Tomos Williams should also be available for the visit to BT Murrayfield.
