Head coach Eddie Jones insists England must stick to their methods if they’re to turn their form around after losing a third straight Championship match on Super Saturday.

Ireland were 24-15 winners at Twickenham as they sealed the Grand Slam triumph to go with the NatWest 6 Nations title they won last weekend.

But Jones was not panicking at full-time despite his side finishing fifth in the Championship standings 12 months on from lifting the trophy themselves.

“It’s obviously disappointing but you go through these little runs and the only way to get out of it is to stick the processes and focus on what you need to do to improve,” he said.

“We have to keep working at our game, look at how we can improve. It’s quite natural for a team to go through it’s not good but its natural.

“I thought our players really stuck at it but we gave Ireland too big a lead. We gave them too many penalties at the start of the game which allowed them to get a big lead.”

Ireland scored three tries through Garry Ringrose, CJ Stander and Jacob Stockdale in the opening 40 minutes and led 21-5 at the break.

England fought back in the second period but were unable to overturn the deficit and Jones paid tribute to the Grand Slam champions.

He added: “Ireland are a good tough team who are well coached, very well disciplined, they play to their strengths and are very worthy Grand Slam winners.”
