Jordan Larmour produced a record-breaking display for Ireland in Chicago and teammate Luke McGrath believes there is a lot more to come from his ‘freak’ of a Leinster and Ireland colleague.

Grand Slam champions Ireland romped to a 54-7 victory over Italy, with Larmour stealing all the headlines as he ran in a hat-trick and made a remarkable 245 metres with ball in hand.

It was a sensational display on his first Test start for Larmour, who made his international debut from the bench during the 2018 Six Nations.

And McGrath, who also scored a try for the Irish, expects a lot more to come from the full-back or winger, with Ireland set to face Argentina in Dublin this weekend.

He said: “He’s a freak. I get the opportunity to see him do that the whole time in training.

“Some of his tries, the one at the end was incredible. He set me up for one as well, he can do it all.

“He’s a player… it’s scary to think how young he is and the potential he could fulfil.”

WORLD RUGBY NOD

Capable of playing across the back three, as well as in the centres, Larmour earned a nomination as World Rugby’s Breakthrough Player of the Year.

McGrath explained that beyond his dazzling feet and exceptional speed, it is also Larmour’s communication that helps him stand out.

“He’s getting more confidence with more game time,” McGrath added. “He’s like a constant battery. He’s got so much energy, he can’t stop moving.

“You look at him on the pitch and he is like that, he always wants to get the ball. He’s always talking, to the scrum-half and the ten.

“He wants to get the ball in his hands all the time. That’s incredibly exciting and it’s great to play with because it gives you options.

“He’s getting better and better and it’s going to be exciting to see where he goes.”
