Italy winger Edoardo Padovani has won the Guinness Six Nations Try of Round 5 for his match-winning score against Wales in Cardiff.

Padovani crossed the line in the closing minutes of Italy’s 22-21 over Wales as the Azzurri won their first Guinness Six Nations match since 2015.

Kieran Crowley’s men had put up a phenomenal fight and found themselves narrowly on the wrong side of a 21-15 scoreline with two minutes to go.

After losing a lineout, Wales scrum-half Kieran Hardy cleared his lines, but only as far as Padovani, who passed it to full-back Ange Capuozzo.

He scanned the Welsh defensive line and went left and then right, sprinting past Josh Adams into clear open space.

The 22-year-old Italian sensation continued his break and stepped at full speed past Hardy and pinned his ears back for the corner.

As he got towards the try line, Dan Biggar came across and Capuozzo passed inside to Padovani who scored a try that will undoubtedly go down in Italian folklore.

A public vote decided the winner of this award, and there was a clear winner in Padovani, who received an astonishing 78% of the votes.

Ireland’s Josh van der Flier finished second with 11% of the votes for his score against Scotland, which was narrowly ahead of France scrum-half Antoine Dupont whose try against England finished with 7%.

Freddie Steward finished fourth with 4% of the vote for his try against France.
