Sergio Parisse admitted England’s physicality proved too much for Italy as they slipped to a 57-14 defeat in the Guinness Six Nations at Twickenham.

The Red Rose racked up eight tries as Manu Tuilagi and Brad Shields both bagged braces, while Jamie George, Jonny May, George Kruis and Dan Robson also got on the scoresheet.

Italy responded with tries from Tommaso Allan and Luca Morisi, but the visitors were unable to stop England from sealing their third bonus-point win of the Championship.

And skipper Parisse, who returned to the Azzurri side after missing the defeat to Ireland with concussion, said the hosts were well-deserving of their victory.

“We knew it was going to be hard,” he said. “We’ve still got a game against France next week in Rome so we have to get a result against them.

“England dominated today, they had a lot of possession. We missed a lot of one-on-one tackles. They completely deserved the result.

“We did some good things in attack but it’s not enough. We don’t have the same physicality as England.

“Guys like [Manu] Tuilagi make a big difference for them. We have to work for the next week, work on our defence and try to be ready for France.”
