Scotland flanker Jamie Ritchie has been ruled out of his side’s Guinness Six Nations clash with Wales due to injury.
Ritchie sustained damage to his hamstring and groin area in the second-half of Scotland’s 20-17 Calcutta Cup win over England and was replaced by Magnus Bradbury.
The 25-year-old, who was vice-captain in Saturday’s win alongside fly-half Finn Russell, left BT Murrayfield on crutches, casting doubt on his participation in later rounds of the Championship.
Fellow back-row forward Josh Bayliss, who has recently been recovering from concussion, remains unavailable for the trip to Cardiff.
Hooker Dave Cherry, who scored three tries in last year’s Guinness Six Nations, has been called into Gregor Townsend’s squad as they prepare for Round 2.
A statement on the SRU’s Twitter feed confirmed: “Jamie Ritchie and Josh Bayliss have not met up with the squad this week through injury. Dave Cherry has joined up with the team today.”
Scotland are looking for a first win in the Welsh capital since 2002 and face a side determined to bounce back after their 29-7 opening round defeat to Ireland.
