The Harlequins flanker has not pulled on the Red Rose jersey since June of last year following a knee injury sustained in October.

That ruled him out of all the Autumn Internationals and the start of this year’s Championship.

But the 32-year-old has been back to his best in the past couple of weeks for club side Harlequins who are on a five-game winning run in the league and well-placed to claim a first play-off spot since 2014.

Robshaw crossed for a try and was his typically industrious self on Saturday at the Rec with 18 carries and 16 tackles in his side’s 31-29 win over Bath.

In the same game, Jonathan Joseph crossed for a score for the hosts and the centre is also back in the England fold for the first time since the Portugal training camp before their opener against Ireland.

As expected, Maro Itoje is also back fully fit and firing for selection this week as England aim to get back to winning ways against Italy at Twickenham on Saturday
