Movie star Tom Holland praised a “fantastic” French rugby team as he promoted his new film Uncharted while Les Bleus sit in pole position in the Guinness Six Nations.

The 25-year-old Spider-Man star was speaking to French YouTuber Mastu who boasts over three million subscribers on the platform ahead of the release of his new film, which topped the box office last weekend.

“I love it here,” said Holland. “The French people are very kind.

“I know that we are currently amongst the Six Nations which is a huge rugby tournament.

“Obviously, France are a fantastic rugby side so for me to be here, to be with the fans, is very special.”

France Rugby tweeted a clip of the interview and said: [It] would be a pleasure for us to have you at one of our match [sic]!”

In the interview – which has been viewed over 2.5 million times on YouTube – Holland admitted he spoke no French but talked of his appreciation for France more broadly.

He said: “I love it here in France. I’ve been to Paris many times before and always had a wonderful time.”

France will hope to replicate Uncharted’s feat of topping the pile come the end of the 2022 Guinness Six Nations next month.

They currently lead the Championship after two rounds of matches and are the only unbeaten side remaining after victories over Italy and Ireland.

Les Bleus will be looking to continue their Grand Slam bid as they take on Scotland at Murrayfield on Saturday at 2.15pm.

Fabien Galthié’s side opened their 2022 Guinness Six Nations campaign with a 37-10 victory over Italy courtesy of a Gabin Villière hat-trick.

They then followed-up with a 30-24 defeat of Ireland in which the boot of full-back Melvyn Jaminet proved crucial.

France are looking to win their first Championship since 2010 when they won the Grand Slam under Head Coach Marc Lièvremont.
