Wales narrowly beat France to finish second as the 2018 NatWest 6 Nations came to a close at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

In a low-scoring affair, Wales won 14-13, with only three points coming in the second half.

François Trinh-Duc opened the scoring after just three minutes with a superb drop goal from 30 metres out.

But Liam Williams responded straight from the kick off as confusion in the French defence allowed Alun Wyn Jones to grab the ball and Scott Williams to kick through for the winger to score.

Leigh Halfpenny extended the home side’s advantage with a couple of penalties, but on 21 minutes, France hit back, with Gael Fickou going over for a fine team try.

The French hooker Adrien Pelissie had made some good metres and with numbers queuing up on the outside, France kept their composure to move back into the game.

After the interval, Wales looked to take the game away from France and Taulupe Faletau made a great break only for handling errors to let them down.

Maxime Machenaud brought France to within one point of Wales on 49 minutes, but they would prove to be the final points of the match as Trinh-Duc missed a penalty later on.
