Jacob Stockdale has become the first player to score seven tries in a single NatWest 6 Nations campaign after scoring against England at Twickenham.

The Irish winger had already made history by scoring multiple tries in successive games for the first time since Englishman Cyril Lowe in 1914.

Now Stockdale stands alone as the record try-scorer for a single Championship, surpassing Will Greenwood, Shane Williams and Chris Ashton.

As the first half against England drew to a close, Ireland were leading 14-5 and could have been forgiven for kicking to touch.

But they decided to go for the score and Stockdale delivered yet again.

Conor Murray fed the ball to the Ulster winger who kicked ahead and won a battle for the bouncing ball with Mike Brown and Jonny May, touching down just before the ball went dead and giving Ireland a 21-5 lead at the break.
