Here’s a look at the best bits from round 1:

Ireland 20-32 England

Henry Slade made the difference in Dublin as he and his England teammates inflicted Ireland’s first Six Nations defeat on home turf for six years.

The reigning Grand Slam winners were bested by the Red Rose as Slade’s second-half double along with tries from Jonny May and Elliot Daly gave Eddie Jones’ men a bonus-point victory.

France 19-24 Wales

Wales produced a stirring comeback at Stade de France after falling 16 points behind at half time and were born again after the restart.

George North scored two opportunistic tries to further cement his place as one of the best try scorers the Championship has ever seen leaving France to pick up the pieces in their home stadium.

Scotland 33-20 Italy

Blair Kinghorn scored a hat-trick on Scotland’s way to recording a seventh straight Six Nations victory at BT Murrayfield.

Guglielmo Palazzani, Edoardo Padovani and Angelo Esposito all contributed late consolation tries for the Azzurri in an eight-try thriller but it was not enough to overturn the Scots’ bonus point lead.
