Wayne Pivac’s side were on the cusp of sealing a historic Grand Slam against France on Super Saturday before a late Brice Dulin try secured a 32-30 win for the hosts.

Last-gasp Dulin try denies Wales a Grand Slam and keeps France’s title hopes alive

The fate of this year’s Championship title will now be decided by the rescheduled Round 3 encounter between France and Scotland at Stade de France on Friday.

Wales will still be crowned champions for the second time in three years unless Fabien Galthie’s men beat Scotland with a four-try bonus point and by at least 21 points in Paris.

France can also become champions if they win by 20 points and score six tries.

And Wales squad scrum-half Williams, who travelled as a reserve to Paris, says he will have everything crossed for the right result – and may even dress for the occasion.

“Fingers crossed. We lost in Paris, though we’ve played some great stuff, but it’s not in our hands,” he said. “I’ll have to get a kilt on and support the Scots.”

Williams played for Wales in their victory over Italy earlier in the Championship and could receive a third Guinness Six Nations winner’s medal, having featured in the 2012 and 2013 title triumphs.

Will the Guinness Six Nations try record be broken this year?

And the 31-year-old, who is the son of former Wales scrum-half Brynmor Williams, was delighted to join the squad in France despite the disappointing end to the contest.

“I was really pleased I went for the team and glad to be part of it,” he said.

“It would be great to get a winner’s medal, the boys worked so hard through the whole campaign and from what I’ve experienced we deserve it, it would be great to see that work paying off.”
