COFFEE DATE: CONNIE POWELL

connie powell
The England and Harlequins hooker on Doja Cat, sausage dogs and windy pitches.

What’s your coffee of choice? I love a skinny iced latte – summer bod, ya know! Otherwise, a flat white.

What are you watching on TV at the moment? The Gentleman. It’s actually alright – a good watch in camp.

Who would you like to write a book about your life? I wouldn’t give to my friends, that’s for sure! Maybe Flo Lloyd-Hughes who wrote The Rise of the Lionesses, as it would mean we’d have been successful with the Red Roses.

What song would be the soundtrack to your career highlights? Hang on, let me look at my ‘Badass’ playlist … Anything by Doja Cat or Nicki Minaj.

Who’s your best mate in rugby? None of them. It’s strictly business. We’re only colleagues. (I’m joking! Ellie Kildunne.)

Where do you call home? Wherever our long-haired sausage dog, Dudley, is. But I’m from Ipswich. It’s quite far away from everything and there are good brunch places!

What’s your ideal holiday destination? Somewhere over 25 degrees with a pool.

If you could travel back to any period in time, when would it be? I would go back to the day when Gloucester-Hartpury won the Premiership and re-live all that. What a day.

If you wanted to be remembered for anything, what would it be? Being nice as pie off the field but a hard player on it.

What’s the hardest thing about being a rugby player? The cold, windy pitches at Surrey Sports Park!

And what’s the best thing about it? The fact a maul try is an individual try and not a team try!

Which teammate would be your ideal backpacking companion, and why? Our videographer, Rory Maguire, so he can capture some great content for me! Scotland v England, Guinness Women's Six Nations, Saturday 13th April, 14:15
