Hat-trick hero Abby Dow dotted down early on before Mo Hunt, Meg Jones and Zoe Aldcroft secured England an early bonus point with their scores in front of 48,778 fans.
Ireland showed glimpses of determination and had their moments but could not stop a steadfast Red Roses side, who extended their lead to 38-3 in the first half through Ellie Kildunne and Dow for her second.
Jess Breach and Sadia Kabeya continued England’s dominance into the second half and, despite Ireland being awarded a penalty try, a comprehensive win was wrapped up through Jones, Dow, Kildunne for her own hat-trick, Breach and Maddie Feaunati.
ENGLAND HURTLE TO EARLY BONUS POINT
Ireland got out of the blocks quickly with intent, forcing an early lineout but a knock-on from Aoife Dalton stopped them in their tracks.
The inevitable Dow delivered the first blow and crossed over inside seven minutes after quick hands from Lark Atkin-Davies before Alex Matthews started a terrifying line break.
Dow dotted down for her third of the championship with Holly Aitchison unable to convert her first kick.
Hunt soon doubled England’s lead after spotting a gap and storming through from into Ireland’s 22. The visitors desperately defended through England phases but in-form Hunt was on hand again for the score, successfully converted by Aitchison.
Minutes later it was Dow’s turn to break through Ireland’s defence, launching an attack out from a driving maul before Jones found the space to go over with outstretched arm for England’s third.
John Mitchell’s side had secured their bonus point within 20 minutes after an incredible Kildunnne run made sizable metres before Zoe Aldcroft spotted space for a bulldozing burst from the halfway line under the sticks.
Bemand’s side were eager to show they were not going down a fight, going through patient phases to make metres before winning a penalty.
Dannah O’Brien kept her cool with the kick to put Ireland’s first points on the board.
The indomitable Kildunne scored her seventh try of the tournament after a quick move from England from a scrum penalty in the 28th minute.
Ireland did not make it easy for the champions, on the hunt for a sixth, holding up Hannah Botterman with the ball in hand who attempted to crash over from two metres out.
Dow was on the hunt for her brace on the wing but was caught by the TMO, the ball escaping her grip as she soared over the line.
But she made no mistake upon second attempt two minutes later, Tatyana Heard, Jones and Kildunne providing excellent service for the wing in the corner to secure her second of the afternoon.
TWO TWICKENHAM HAT-TRICK HEROES
Out for the second half, Breach went through her gears after being found on the wing when O’Brien spilled the ball to score her first of the afternoon as Aitchison added the extras.
Kabeya was rewarded with a try for her first-half brilliance after she grounded the ball beneath the posts after wriggling through a tackle following a trademark Marlie Packer carry, before Aitchison put her side up to 50.
Ireland remained resolute in their approach to the final 25 minutes, working their way into England’s 22.
Brittany Hogan’s brilliance in the lineout was met with an Ireland maul before a collapse resulted in an Ireland penalty try, with Lucy Packer sent to the bin.
England had a near-immediate reply through Jones, who pierced through Ireland’s defence with pace before skipping over.
Emily Scarratt returned to the turf for the first time since England’s opener to rapturous Twickenham applause but the stadium erupted when Dow used her blistering pace on the right wing for her third, after Kildunne slipped her an overthrown Ireland lineout.
Provider-turned-scorer Kildunne soon secured her hat-trick too with tries either side of Breach’s second in the final 10 minutes before Feaunati added another.
