Kieran Williams scored two of eight Wales Under-20 tries as they got back to winning ways in this year’s Under-20s Six Nations with victory over Scotland at Broadwood Stadium.

Wales and Scotland scored 14 tries between them but it was the visitors who put defeat to England last time out behind them with a second win of this year’s Championship.

As for Scotland, they had to make do with another losing bonus point as they made it three losses from as many matches.

Wales flew out of the traps and led 7-0 after just five minutes as a slick move ended with Cameron Lewis juggling a Dane Blacker pass but gathering to spin through a tackle and dot down, with Ben Jones converting.

And just two minutes later Jones was adding the extras again, this time after a Wales lineout to the tail saw wing Corey Baldwin show good footwork to race away under the posts.

On the quarter-hour mark Scotland were then penalised for not rolling away on their own 22 and Jones kicked the penalty to further stretch Wales’ lead.

Five minutes later Wales threatened again as centre Williams gathered the ball well inside his own half before breaking a tackle and racing upfield only to be tackled into touch just 10m out.

Scotland survived but head coach Sean Lineen opted to replace winger Ross McCann with Robbie Nairn, and the new man immediately looked dangerous as moments later he broke down the left before being tackled into touch.

But on the half-hour mark Jones kicked his second before he was converting a third Wales try, this one scored by Williams who raced clear after an offload by Blacker.

But Scotland finished the half strongly as they stole a Wales lineout 5m out and Tom Dodd barged his way over in the corner.

Connor Eastgate missed the tough conversion but the centre made no mistake moments later after Fraser Renwick was driven over the whitewash from a lineout.

That meant the home side trailed 27-12 at half-time but Wales started the second half as they did the first and scored within a minute of the restart as a chip kick from Blacker bounced kindly into the hands of full-back Rhun Williams who went in under the posts for the bonus point try.

Jones made the easy conversion and then split the posts with an impressive penalty as Wales stretched their lead to 37-12.

But Scotland weren’t lying down and they went straight down the other end and captain Callum Hunter-Hill was at the back of a strong drive following a lineout to barge over, although Eastgate couldn’t add the tough conversion.

However, Wales came storming back themselves and after Kieran Williams was adjudged to have been held up on the tryline by the TMO, prop Rhys Carre barged his way over on 54 minutes with Jones once again converting.

But more good Scotland forward play brought the hosts their fourth try as Andrew Simmers spun his way over the tryline following another strong drive, Josh Henderson converting.

Just after the hour mark the game saw its tenth try and it went the way of Wales as Kieran Williams went over for his second try, Jones adding the extras.

Five minutes later Wales went through several phases and James Botham scythed through the Scottish defence to touch down in the corner for his first Under-20s try with Jones adding the superb conversion from the touchline.

Scotland hit back through replacement Nairn who demonstrated impressive power on the wing to score again for the hosts, but Wales had their eighth try with three minutes remaining as replacement Morgan Morris barged over off the back of a maul, with Jones once again adding the extras.

However, Scotland had the final say with Nairn going over in the right corner as they had to make do with a losing bonus point.
