“I remember the coach saying ‘this is Shaunagh, she’s going to be good’.”

As predictions go, that one hasn’t turned out too badly. Shaunagh Brown will earn her 22nd England cap against Italy this weekend as part of a Red Roses squad looking to win their third consecutive Women’s Six Nations title.

And the prop is the first Championship star to feature in our new ‘My Rugby Life’ series, featuring one player from each team looking back at their rugby story through the photos that mean the most, shaping who they are today and exploring their drive for success on the pitch.

Brown was a late arrival to rugby – taking it up seriously at the age of 25 having previously represented England at the hammer throw in the 2014 Commonwealth Games – but she has more than made up for lost time.

From her early days at Medway RFC to sharing international success with best mate Sarah Beckett via Premier 15s glory with Harlequins, Brown’s journey so far has been a memorable one.

Stay tuned to the Women’s Six Nations website and social channels throughout the Championship to see Brown’s fellow stars share their stories in ‘My Rugby Life’.

Siwan Lillicrap, Kathryn Dane, Jessy Tremouliere, Lana Skeldon and Michela Sillari will also be taking trips down memory lane as we discover the moments that have shaped some of the competition’s leading lights.
