The England No.8 was in superb form on the field once again as the Red Roses secured a third consecutive Championship title with a hard-fought 10-6 win over Les Bleues.

Cleall scored the only try of the game just before the break, taking a quick penalty before driving towards the line, offloading and re-gathering the ball to barge over the whitewash.

But while Cleall earned plenty of plaudits for her performance at the Twickenham Stoop she didn’t have it all her own way as she got a taste of her own medicine in the first half.

Les Bleues prop Bernadou delivered a crunching tackle on Cleall and when France’s Twitter account tweeted a picture, the England star couldn’t help but respond.

After correcting the spelling of her name, Cleall took the post in good spirits and was quick to hail the challenge from Bernadou as the unofficial “tackle of the tournament”.

The tackle was one of a match-high 17 made by Bernadou during an impressive all-round display from the 21-year-old France tighthead in the Finals Day showdown with England .

In addition to her initial retweet to @FranceRugby’s post about the tackle, Cleall also added in the replies: “Did the whole get up as quick as possible and pretend I wasn’t winded.”

While there is no official Tackle of the Championship, Cleall is in the running for both Try of the Round and Player of the Round after England made it eight consecutive wins against France.
